CAV and intelligent mobility - key projects

UK Autodrive – A £19.3m, 3 year project bringing together 12 private public and university partners to develop and deploy driverless technologies on the streets of Coventry, Warwickshire and Milton Keynes.  Private partners include Jaguar Land Rover, Ford and RDM Group.

UK Connected Intelligent Transport Environment (UKCITE) – £7.1m project to enable automotive, infrastructure and service companies to trial connected vehicle technology, infrastructure and services on roads in Coventry and Warwickshire.

Recent investments locally have included Geely London Taxi’s £325m investment in to a new electric vehicle factory at Ansty to build the TX5 taxi; Lighting Hybrids MIRA facility, Detroit Electric’s new assembly site in Leamington Spa.

BMW’s £750m UK investment, including its Hams Hall powertrain facility, which supplies plants in the UK and overseas.  BMW produces thousands of engines every year at Hams Hall, including the hybrid engine for the i8 supercar.
